I have a CISCO model E1000 Wireless-N router. Everything is

Resolved Question:

I have a CISCO model E1000 Wireless-N router. Everything is working fine but I have forgotten my passwords. I assume I'll have to reset and set up the router again but when I type in the address, I get a request box for a user name and password...which I don't I'm stuck at that point. I have a copy of each page of the set up but of course there are no passwords showing on it...only the router name. Do you have instructions to reset everything?

The default for the Cisco E1000 is a blank username (enter nothing) and the password XXXXX "admin" without the quotes. Please remember this is case sensitive, also for more information, please review the guide located here:

OK, I see your answer. I did try to log on leaving the user name blank and the password XXXXX several times but it doesn’t let me on.

That means the default username and password XXXXX changed. If you are unable to remember the username and password XXXXX login, you will have to wipe and re-configure the wireless router. Here is what you need to do:


1. First get the two items downloaded:

Here is the software to setup the wireless router:,0.exe


Here is the guide that will assist you if you have any issues:


Now we will reset the router:


1. On the back of the router, there is a red reset button.

2. Use a pen or paper clip to press and hold the button for 30 seconds.

3. Once you are finished, please unplug the router for 30 seconds, and plug it back in.


Now the default configurations are set.


Please run the software we downloaded earlier and run through the steps.


This will allow you to setup the configuration of the wireless and be sure to write down the password.
