I've had satellite internet for years, but it's really slow. I recently bought a wilson signal booster, a wireless hotspot and a wireless USB adapter and connected my desktop computer to ATT. Its 15 times faster than the satellite.Problem is, I have a computer operated whole house sound system (Sonos) that is dependent on your router, which is no longer in the loop.Is there a way to connect the router to the hot spot without going through the computer? When I connect the router and the hot spot at the same time, the computer gets confused...any help would be appreciated.
Hello, I'd like to help you with your question. Please remember to click the accept button if you are satisfied with my answers.
Is the sonos running on wifi or hardwired ethernet connection? Do you have an additional router you are using besides the hotspot?
You can have the hotspot and router connected at the same time, but they need to be set to different static Ip addresses and subnets
You will only have internet on the wifi connection to the hotspot, the 2nd connection (wired I assume, unless you have a 2nd wireless card) to the router will be for local network to sonos only, and not internet connected.
