6- Unplug the internet modem from the electricity outlet, wait 10 seconds and then replug it to the electricity outlet.

OK.

On step #6 of the second procedure, do you see the "Linksys" or "Cisco" network listed there?

Customer replied 485 days and 8 hours ago.

I have tried the fix that you sent me several times and the wireless connection doesn't connect. Looking at the diagram in network connections it looks like the router is connected to the computer but not to the sat dish. When I connect the sat dish to the computer the connection is fine. Please help

You need to connect the sat dish internet device to the "WAN" or "Internet" port on the back of the Linksys router.

Please check that and let me know.

Customer replied 485 days and 8 hours ago.

Yes I have connected that and it still doesn't work

OK, select "Linksys", I suppose that's the name of your wireless network.

Make sure the modem is still connected to the "INTERNET" or "WAN" port on back of the Linksys router.

Select Linksys

Then open Internet Explorer and go to www.yahoo.com and press enter, for example.

Does it work?

Customer replied 485 days and 7 hours ago.

No it will not open internet explorer

OK, you need to connect the cable that comes from the satellite modem and that you usually connect to your computer, to the Internet or WAN port on back of the router.

Disconnect it from the computer, then connect it to the router. Are you doing that?

Customer replied 485 days and 7 hours ago.

yes, when I connect it to the computer internet works fine; when i connect the cable to the internet connection on the router i cannot connect to the internet

Picture
Expert:  Engineer John C. replied 485 days and 6 hours ago.

OK. Please ask your satellite provider if you have a PPPoE username and password XXX your internet connection and let me know.

I will tell you how to add it to your router and that should solve the issue.

Thank you

Customer replied 483 days and 11 hours ago.

Iwill have to get back to you on monday because I'm tending to my wife's chronic illness.

Customer replied 479 days and 17 hours ago.

I have contacted my sat dish provider, hughes.net and they said the ppoe username and password XX XXXX for dialup and they do not have the information

Charles

Customer replied 479 days and 17 hours ago.

Are you out there?

Picture
Expert:  Engineer John C. replied 479 days and 16 hours ago.

OK. Some ISP's use PPPoE username and password XX well, even if they are not dial up.

Anyway, we now know yours doesn't use it.

Are you sure that the satellite modem is connected to the WAN or Internet port on the back of the router?

Please let me know your Linksys router model number so we can verify it.

It should work, try also with a different Ethernet cable.

Thank you

Customer replied 479 days and 16 hours ago.

I have tried connecting the ethernet cable to the route where it says internet and it still doesn't work. I have tried another ethernet cable and it doesn't work.

OK

Please make sure to connect the Ethernet cable that comes from the satellite modem, to the Internet port on back of the Linksys router.

Then if you want to connect a computer to the internet via wired, please connect another Ethernet cable from the back of the computer to one of the ports 1, 2, 3 or 4 on back of the Linksys router.

Also, if you want to connect via wireless from another computer or device, please connect to the "Linksys" or "Cisco" wireless network from that computer or device.

Please check that and let me know.

Customer replied 479 days and 16 hours ago.

I have connected the ethernet cable that comes from the sat modem to the internet port on the back of the modem. No woreless internet connection.

I have the connected the the ethernet to one of the ports on the back of the (1,2,3,4,) modem hardwiring the router. No inter net connection,

I then connected the sat modem directly to the computer and I have an internet connection.

Also I tried my other windows 7 machine and there was no internet connection.

Did you get my reply?

Customer replied 479 days and 14 hours ago.

It's been almost an hour, any suggestions? I've been waiting by the computer,

Charles

Customer replied 479 days and 13 hours ago.

John- If you don't have an answer to my issue, please let me know. I have spent far to much time today trying make the router work. I have tried again to reset it as per your earlier instuctions to no avail.

Please let me know. I have to sign off now to get some other work done but will check back later.

Thank you Charles. I apologize for the long delay.

It seems the router is defective. If your satellite company told you that you don't need any username and password XX be inserted into the router, then it should work as it is now.

I found a Cisco e1000 router for $24.99 here -----> http://goo.gl/n1tRv

We can try with it if you want, and isolate the issue.

Also, make sure we don't need any username and password XXXX the internet provider to be inserted into the router.

Thank you
