Hello. Welcome to JustAnswer, a paid global support site.

Sounds like you might be typing the incorrect key on your Kindle. We will need to verify the key is correct.

#1 - Do you have any computers that are currently wirelessly connected to the Linksys at this time?

#2 - If you do, what version of Windows (XP / Vista / 7) are you running on that computer?

We can extract your key to use on your Kindle from the computer.

Okay. What is the full make and model number of your router?

From here, we can reconfigure it from scratch.

2 wire gateway modem

Actually, on the 2wire, you should have a code for your key on a sticker on the device.

It should be the second set of numbers in the bracket as pictured above.

i have already entered that number labelled "wireless network key" with no results. could my kindle be defective?
Expert:  Mr. Clark replied 4 years ago.
Do you have any other devices (other than the Kindle) that you can test the key on?

Okay, to determine if the Kindle is the problem or the 2Wire, is there any way you can connect the Kindle to a different network?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.
other wireless network shows "poor signal", but the number doesn't work on that one either

I'd suggest factory resetting your Fire.

To go gear->more->device->reset

Where the 'gear' is in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It takes you into settings.

From there, attempt to connect to your network again.
