on a dual band wireless router does each band need a unique ssid or can one be shared?also are the passwords for connecting other equipment on the netowrk the same for each band.thanks

In answer to your question the dual band is for the internal use of the router. It will choose the band it runs on by itself. SSID and passwords are the same. The router is continuously checking both bands and transmitting based on the needs of the equipment and what is available.
