Viet - Network Tech :

Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.com.

Viet - Network Tech :

Was the netbook connecting previously?

Viet - Network Tech :

Do you know your wireless password/key?

Viet - Network Tech :

What's the exact error code/message, if any?

Customer:

The page cannot be displayed. Netbook has not been connected to WiFi as of yet.

Viet - Network Tech :

if you click on the wireless icon at the bottom right of the screen, can you connect to your wireless/wifi network name?

Customer:

The icon is not showing.

Viet - Network Tech :

Does the netbook have windows xp, vista, or 7?

Viet - Network Tech :

Can you check at the front, left, and right sides of the netbook to see if there is a wireless switch to turn on/off the wireless?

Viet - Network Tech :

If there is no wireless switch, can you turn press at the same time the two keys Fn and the wireless icon key, which is located at one of the keys from F1 to F12, to turn on/off the wireless?

Customer:

Do not see a switch

Viet - Network Tech :

Can you turn press at the same time the two keys Fn and the wireless icon key, which is located at one of the keys from F1 to F12, to turn on/off the wireless?

Customer:

ok

Viet - Network Tech :

ok, thanks.

Customer:

Uses Windows CE system.

Viet - Network Tech :

it's not XP?

Customer:

No.

Viet - Network Tech :

Sorry, I'm not familiar with windows CE. I will open your question to other experts.

Viet - Network Tech :

Please do not wait; you will get an email when there is an answer. Thank you.

Customer:

Or, I should say, I don't know. I checked the book and it says that it is Windows CE

Customer:

ok.

Viet - Network Tech :

wait.

Viet - Network Tech :

When you turn on the netbook, what does it say?

Customer:

Do you mean when it first starts up? Loading OS Image, Smart Book

Viet - Network Tech :

can you right-click on My Computer, then click on Properties?

Customer:

I don't have a regular mouse for this computer. Hold on, I will have to hook up my wireless mouse to it. When I use the mouse pad, and click on My Computer, it does not show properties.

Viet - Network Tech :

don't click on My Computer, but right-click on My Computer

Customer:

ok

Customer:

I show system properties.

Viet - Network Tech :

please let me know if it says windows xp

Customer:

No. It says Windows CE

Viet - Network Tech :

Was the netbook able to connect to your wifi previously?

Customer:

Brand New Net Book. Wi Fi has to be set up. I have the WI FI icon, but not the other one that is suppose to be on the task bar at the bottom right. I saw it one time, and now it is gone.

Viet - Network Tech :

what's the brand and model of the netbook?

Customer:

It only says X6-7A

Viet - Network Tech :

Do you see the WiFi/power icon on your desktop?

Customer:

It is a Mini Netbook Laptop Notebook WIFI. Yes, I see the power icon on the desktop.

Viet - Network Tech :

Can you open it?

Customer:

yes

Viet - Network Tech :

what does it say?

Viet - Network Tech :

What are the options?

Viet - Network Tech :

Can you check at the bottom right of the screen to see if there is a wireless icon that looks like below:

Customer:

That is the icon that I could't find. I have that now. and the three headings are IP Info, IPvc Info and Wireless Info. I see my network on the listings.

Customer:

It is asking for a network key.

Viet - Network Tech :

Great. It's working, but you need the network key

Viet - Network Tech :

What's the brand and model of your wireless router?

Viet - Network Tech :

Also, do you have another wireless computer/laptop that is currently connected via wireless? If so, does it have windows xp, vista, or 7? Can you click on Start, then right-click on Computer, then click on Properties, then check if your System type: is 32-bit or 64-bit?

Customer:

netgear, xp, 64 bits

Viet - Network Tech :

Please go to http://www.routerlogin.net/ (or http://192.168.1.1/ or http://192.168.0.1/), and login with:

  • Username = admin

  • Password = password

Then click on the Wireless settings option to get your wireless network name (SSID) and wireless / security key.

Customer:

I have it.

Viet - Network Tech :

ok, then just enter the network key

Customer:

ok. I am connected. Thank you.

Viet - Network Tech :

Great. You're welcome. Please click on Accept if I have been helpful. Thank you.
