I cannot connect to www.mywifiext.net to change settings on my netgear WN2000rpt, also tried http://192.168.1.250 as suggested but still no joy! any other suggestions?
Welcome to JustAnswer
By the way have you checked the system ip address?
It should be in 192.168.1. * range inorder to talk with netgear WN2000rpt
Click start > All programs > accessories > command prompt
On command prompt window type ipconfig then press enter key
tell me ip address and default gateway from result
ip address = 192.168.1.10
default gateway = 192.168.1.1
Check if you able to ping 192.168.1.250
1: Open command prompt ( see above step)
2: On command prompt window type ping 192.168.1.250 then press enter key
Make sure netgear WN2000rpt is connected to router and has powered on
Check if it pings or not
pinging gives "request timed out"
WN2000rpt is on and extender status is green
How you have connected netgear WN2000rpt to router? Is it by lan cable?
can you connect it by lan cable
yes but will take a few mins and live box is downstairs and computer is upstairs! will do that now
I think the wireless connection is not established with router
So lets check if work under lan connection
extender now connected by ethernet cable
Now open command prompt and check if it pings to extender ip address
I have had the extender status green and the link status green but cannot get to the website
On command prompt window type ping 192.168.1.250 then press enter key
check if it pings
I have had the extender status green and the pc to extender status green but hen cannot connect to the mywifiext.net site to access the wizard to change settings
where is the other end of the lan cable connected? Is it to the router or to your computer?
yes in the livebox
Please check whether you connect extender in this way
One end of lan cable should go to extender ethernet port and other end to router ethernet port
Both the extension status and pc to extender status leds are green
Have you connected in this way
open command prompt
check the status
Is it timed out or pinging
request timed out
Lets reset the exttender so that it will bw restored to default settings.
Ok have disconnected all cables to extender including power reconnected and switched on and all is green
Sorry , you should do it this way in order to reset extender
1: Power netgear WN2000rpt wait for 2 min
2: Press the reset button for 1 min . You can find the reset button on the rear side of extender
After reset wait 3 min for extender to come up . Then check
You can either connect via wireless or wired
Hope it should work
reset all green on extender but pinged again and still timed out
still on cable
Is extender secured ?
then remove lan cable and connect via wireless
check if it asks for password *****
sorry don't know was thinkin of internet router which is
Disconnect extender lan cable
I just want to confirm whether extender has reset ot not
By default extender will not ask for wireless password
All has gone green wirelessly! but pinging still times out
The only light on the extender that does not come on is the "link rate status"
have you changed the default ip address of extender before?
do you get internet through extender
yes but cannot connect to the mywifiext.net site to change any setting... as I said in my first question!
please download ip scanner tool from the below link
Click on the download button
when I say yes Perhaps Dont know is more accurate as the extender is only connected to the internet radio which works but only on channel 7 on the router and the extender is set to channel 1
Install IP scanner tool after download
The radio network scanner gives the ifo as SSID Netgear_ext 1p 192.168.1.128 channel 1
fine. then open inetnet explorer and type this ip address
can you ping to that ip address
Is extender secured now ?
Dont know, There is no secure Padlock symbol on the radio's scanner so I think not, there is a secure symbol for the radio's direct link it the livebox
can you press the reset button once more
press and hold it for 1 min
power off as before?
No , it should be on while doing this process, then only it will get reset
do it right now
press and hold reset button for 1 min
ok done that
led's now green
let the extender come up. Then open network scanner andscan ip address
Radio' scanner says network setting IP is still 192.168.1.128
check on internet explorer both address
server could not be found for both addresses
sorry , i am out of ideas now , i shall open this call to others
Ok thanks for that ...hope some one has some suggestions
