Hi Jason, can we begin?
We sure can..
Ok gimme a second here
I see that your system is telling you that you need a driver
but you dont have an included driver for the device
is that correct?
are you there?
Hi - I'm here :)
Just spent over an hr on the phone to Belkin tech supprt......
aaah very sorry
did they fix your issue?
to be told my bluetooth dongle is not windows 7 compatible!!!
I'm now trying it on my old pc as opposed to my laptop
the dongle driver can be installed in compatibility mode
they dont support that
but it does have the ability
ok so heres how yu do it
ok - where do we start chief?
unisntall all instances of the software
off the sys your prepping to run it on
and then when your ready lemme know
im standing by
good now in the software package
do you see an area that specifically mentions a driver
for the usb dongle
if so then right click it and select properties
if not then i will work around it
aah no problem
lemme know when ready
im actually going to have copy all contents of the disk into a folder on your desktop named belkin ok
yeah i know sounds strnage
strange but but it works
so do this :
laptop is now rebooting
double click my computer form your desktop
you mean the driver CD?
will need to wait till lappy reboots
no worries...follow the items as i ask you to perform them each time when it finishes booting
and we will get that sucker working in windows 7
go into the cd.....
first open up my computer on desktop
& find the file
by double clicking
hold a tick
select the organize folders in upper left area
it has alittle triangle pointing down
select folder and search optins
then select the view tab
verfy that all folders are visible and not hidden
should be 4 folders that you may need to uncheck
they are now
ok hit the apply to all folders
butto upper left
there was just 1 radio button to select
the apply to folders?
if so then close
"show hidden files, folders & drives......"
very good there would have been 4 radio buttons to uncheck is thast correct
nope - just 1
canb you double check that again please
files & folders
sorry.....folder & search options
folders and search options
then view tab
then uncheck the ones that say the word hide
hidden files & folders.....
very good hit the apply to folders buttoon and close
so now you have opened up the ability to nsee everything in your system
which radio buttons did you want me to uncheck?
and that is importnant in a second
all the ones that say the word hidse
and make sure that the one that doesnt is checked for show hidden,....
ok - done
that allows us to perform the rest
so open up the cd/dvd drive window
and slect all contents by pressing ctrl and a at the same time
ok - I can see all the files on the cd
then press ctrl and v
ctrl + a=select all
ctrl + v= copy
im sorry ctrl+ c
then navigate to desktop and create a new folder named belkin
paste those files into it
and then we modify the properties for the installer
for compatibility mode
its copying them now
I had to drag & drop as copy & pasting didnt work!
but no matter
from the cd
you got them though
so can ypu tell me please what you see for file names
or screen shot it ad upload here
many ini files...
diff types of files - what am I looking for
i need the names...dont care about the ini's
im looking for the .exe
and the rest you would have tell me
ok what are the 2 folders named
you should probably take a screenshot
you can do this by pressing alt+ prntscrn at the same time
then open paint inside accessories
they are the only exe files
and press ctrl+v in paint
then save the file file and upload it by using the little dashboard on this chat window
as an attachment
its the paperclip
this will help me discern the next step for this
as each app has specifics im not visually able to see currently
it would look like this:
can you see it?
can you see my example
I uploaded it....
no i think it never made it
let me refresh my screen
ok so its like this:
1. hit alt+prntscrn when you have the blekin folder in view
I inserted it on my screen but how do I send it to you?
2.open up paint and select crtl+v
3. save the file on the desktop
I did all that
4. select the paperclip in this chat session
sorry im loking down when i type
6.navigate to the area where you saved the .png file
7.it will place the URL in the content windows and then select upload
thats should do it
I do that, then the image appears on the screen but removes the typing box so I cant message you!!
there we go!
now i see it
gimme just a sec to review
ok the files we want to modify are:
ok i think those files are sufficient to accomplish our goal
select the first in the list setup.exe
right click and select properties
select the compatibility tab
select the "change settings for all users" button near bottom
check the radio box for "run this program...."
check the radio box under priveledge level
select ok again
repeat the process for each of the files i listed above:
if there is no compatibility tab on those files its no biggie just means we dont have to modify
when finished let me know and we will continue
I done all but the .ini file which I canrt find
did you mean btwusb.inf ?
ok so then select the setup.exe and run
ok - the only file to have all those options available was the setup.exe file
no problem just covering the bases
go ahead and run the setup.exe
this should allow you to use the dongle when completed
We need to get the laptop paired with the music receiver
i will need your eyes to accomplish tat goal
Its a good job I'm not blind :)
nice....good pay that?
ok let me know when your ready
what is the model of the receiver please?
ok - Windows is bringing up a compatibility issue notification
and we knew that
continue ignoring that message
can you provide me the model information on the belkin please
i want to review thier manual
"Bluetooth Music Receiver"
ok i will find it
Thats its name, by Belkin
you want a serial number?
no m good
gimme a sec please
ok so no product manual located on the belkin site
I have the manual
can you upload it here
by way of word document or rich tect format
the littel icons in this chat session bar are the t and W ones for this
will you be using your iphone to remotely manage?
I only have the physical manual
we will work around that
so what device are you pairing it to?
or just the laptop?
My iPhone works fine with it....
ok then just the top
its just the lappy I've got the problem with
lets try and sync
go through the process as you would normally
the difference is really the stuff we already did
because it should be running all in compt mode now as a windows xp sp3 version
When I click on the bluetooth icon it brings up a window with an icon for the music receiver
on the laptop correct
there is a warning triangle next to the icon
when I double click it to bring up the properties.....
it says the drivers for this device are not installed
ok that can be rectified
open up the device manager
from the control panel
and nav to the area where it shows an issue
select it and open
what does it say
drivers not installed
shall I update the driver?
yes and sue ther driver form our belkin folder
use the driver from the belkin folder on the desktop
we created earlier
you may need to browse to find it
might be in the btwusb.cat
It says it cant find driver software even though I point it at the right folders
not sure i understand you...
you may have to burrow
to the literal file name
"Windows was unable to install your Bluetooth Peripheral device...................."
can you give me a cpl of minutes to review this on the net
You can only point windows to the folder the file is in
did you have the dongle unplugged when we ran the software install earlier
tes until it asked me to plug it in
ok what model is the dongle please
and did it come with the device
was it purchased seperate from the receiver
f8t008 i am checking on that now
yes - several yrs ago
good thank you for that
just a tick
ignoring the phone section same rules apply here
is that from the website?
we are connecting a laptop to the reciver, not a phone
its still the same process
just no phone in theory
to pair devices via blutooth
well I have the icon in the start tray only
bluetooth works like this:
when I click on it several option appear
add a device
send & receive
join personal network
these are the things necessary to set it
that is good
your bluetooth channel is compliant to add the receiver inthis fashion
when I double click the reciver icon comes up but with the warning triangle nxt to it to show something is wrong
its says the drivers arent installed ?
ok well that simly not ture
true we added them
so the windows 7 system is literally denying the process period
soundsv as if the compatibilty mode was not enough
and the hardcoding of the device wont work with it
meaning your dongle \
is more than likely the culprit and simply6 will not work
i am sorry i was hoping to see that workaround work
can you give me an hour so that I can check some forum groups for you
ok, so I'll prob need to get a newer dongle then?
and I will try and see what otherrs have done as a workaround
yes I think that it is simply not going to work for your needs here
ok - we tried!!
we sure did
thanks for your efforts though
your welcome and I will continue to check on this issue and report back what i find
like an hour or so
at least you know for sure the reason
sure - ok, till then :)
that it was failing you
thanks so much...and if you are ok with it hit the green accept button so i can get paid for my time i will still be in contact with you afterwards
sure thing - speak later
ill reply to this thread when i get some solid answers
Ok after reading the specs on your bluetooth setup and looking at refences on some of my forum groups it appears that that module FT8008 usb adapter is most definitely not Windows 7 friendly....heres my suggestion...
You can try using a different model of a belkin products driver files(not the entire sofware but rather just the driver files from a Windows 7 capabale product that is similar and newer. That may allow you to use the hardware you have still. If not here is the F8T008 drivers files you can use to restore a UK version of the product :
Hope this helps and if you need some guidance on that process let me know....
