Hello, I am John Cappucci, Computer Science Engineer. I enjoy solving computer, printer and networking issues, so I will be very happy and will do my best to help you.

What's your router brand and model? Also, do you have a computer with Windows 7 or a Mac computer maybe? Please click "Reply to your expert" to let me know. Thank you

I gave you this information earlier. It is Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 Ghz. I have Windows, but not Windows 7.

Why is this taking so long? It has now been 45 minutes!

Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Hi, are you absolutely certain you know your password?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Yes, I am. I have written in the Linksys packet so I am sure it is correct.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Do you have any Windows PC that is already WIRELESSLY connected to this router?

Thanks.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
It is connected via cable to the CPU and the lights indicate that it is powered on and working.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Let's review the password XXXXX the router, or change it.

1. open a web browser window on the connected computer and type http://192.168.1.1/ into the address bar and press enter. A window will pop up prompting you for a username and password XXXXX access the configuration page for your router. Leave the username empty, and enter admin as the password.

2. Click the Wireless tab and select Wireless Security.

3. Review/change the network key (password) and Apply Settings.

Now try to connect the Roku again.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
This is not working. When I type the address, nothing pops up to allow me to follow your instructions. Please ignore "accept answer".
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Hi,

Please perform a reset to factory defaults:

Locate the reset hole on the back of the router - it is recessed in a small hole.
Using a paperclip or pin, push the button in for 25 seconds.
Let go, and give the router a moment to boot.
Once it is up, the network's name will be Linksys, and you can login to the router by connecting to it with a network cable, launching a browser and going to http://192.168.1.1
You can login with an empty user, and the password: admin

Then set a new network name and go to Wireless Security to set a new key.

Thanks,

James.

I don't see any place to log in. There is a field for forgotten user name/password with different brands and models available. I don't recognize my model number.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Did you do the reset ?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I did. The Roku screen is up and seems to be reset; however, I can't get the home screen to come up.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
I meant reset the ROUTER - not the roku..can you do that?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
That is what I did, of course. It's now wasking me to link the roku to my account. I will try that and let you know.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Thanks!
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I attempted to log in with email address and password, and received the following error message: The em il address or password provided does not match our records. You can verify your roku account email address from Roku by going to settings--player info.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
That means you don't have the correct credentials...can you go to the player settings menu and double check?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
How do I access the player settings menu?
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
From the Roku screen - are you able to get to it now?
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
You can go to:

https://owner.roku.com/Login

And use the forgot password link.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
No, it is still in the setup phase and providing a code to link to unit to my account.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
You can go to:

https://owner.roku.com/Login

And use the forgot password link.

Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Since I was not able to log in to change my password, I created a new account and was able to link and everything is now working.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
Great - glad I could help!
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I think I actually resolved it myself.
Expert:  James replied 3 years ago.
The part with the Roku password -yes - but it would not have worked without resetting the devices :)
