That did not work John. I've got my airport setting locked, and the password XXXXX't work.Jacob
OK, if you reset the router following my previous steps, then the router will not ask for a password XXXXXXX (we can setup a password XXXXX all is working OK). I was before my technical call with Earthlink (lost internet connection while working). How do I set that up?
Do they created a new user account on your computer? When you turn on the computer, do you get prompted to select a user account? (do you have more than one?) Thank youJohn CappucciComputer Science Engineer
No, not that I know of. I did restart my computer when I first started having problems this morning, and was asked only for my password - normal procedure. Yesterday, when I finished with earthlink tech support, we confirmed I had internet connection, but didn't think to check it was my router. This morning when I started to have intermittent connection, I realized I was using their router and coudn't get access mine.
Is this an earthlink problem?
OK, please try connecting to the router with a Network cable and let me know if you get internet. (disconnect from your neighbor's wifi first)
Ok, I connected the network cable directly from computer to router (disconnecting from neighbor's first), and no connection.
Yes, then it seems a router or provider issue. If you connect the computer directly to the modem (bypassing the router), does it work fine?
Yes, I did that yesterday with earthlink and it worked fine.Next stop earthlink?
Well, there are several issues here. You should be able to remove the "Preferred Networks" under the "Network" tab even if the router works or not. 1- Please click the apple icon on the upper left corner of your screen2- Then click System Preferences3- Then click "Show All"4- Then click your account name under "My Account", and let me know if you see the word "Admin" under it, or the word "Standard"
