Hi, and thanks for using JustAnswer.com.
What is the brand and model of your laptop?
Does it have windows xp, vista, or 7?
Can you check if there is a wireless switch on the laptop (usually at a side of the laptop) to turn on/off the wireless? If not, can you press at the same time the two keys Fn and the wireless icon (located from either the key F1 to F12) to turn on/off the wireless?
HI , I have Windows VISTA and my model of laptop is HP
Can you right-click on (my) computer, then click on manage, then click on device manager, then tell me the items under it?
What is the exact model of your HP laptop? Please check the bottom of the laptop.
It is a HP Pavillion dv2000
What are the items on the device manager you are looking for there are a lot. The wireless is now on I had turned it off to get onto the moden per Comcast.
I mean, in device manager, open network adapters and tell me the items under network adapters.

I don't see any problem item in the Device Manager.

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Vista
ok will do
ok, but it looks like the built-in wireless card is broken as it's not even detected in Device Manager
If it does not work, you can get a USB wireless adapter from your local computer store for about $15, then you can have wireless again.
Please let me know if you have any further question or computer issue later. Thank you.
