Hi

NetworkTech :

Welcome to Justanswer

NetworkTech :

DO you have any other computer connected to the network?

Customer:

Yes.

NetworkTech :

Ok..Is it a desktop or a laptop ?

NetworkTech :

I want the system to be directly wired to the router using a LAN cable

Customer:

It is a laptop that I have been using with the router for quite a while. I am trying to connect

Customer:

a second laptop through the router.

NetworkTech :

Ok..Do you have a LAN cable through which you can connect the laptop your router (hardwire the laptop)

Customer:

I did not type that I wanted to connect through a lan cable. I want to connect wirelessly.

NetworkTech :

Yes..but a Lan cable is required to login and retreive the password. (wireless security key)

NetworkTech :

You will need to get into the router to find the password.

Customer:

Ok. Does an ether cable through the router work?

NetworkTech :

yes..

NetworkTech :

COnnect the ethernet cable to anyone of the ports on back of router.

NetworkTech :

Then hardwire it to any laptop

NetworkTech :

Let me know when done.

Customer:

Ok. I have the ether net cable attached to the router.

NetworkTech :

Ok..Now tell me the exact model of linksys router like linksys wrt54g

Customer:

Is it asking you for a username//password XXXXX?

Customer:

No. It has brought up bing.

NetworkTech :

yes..in adress bar in top of internet explorer remove bing address and type http://192.168.1.1

Customer:

Is it xp or vista or windows 7?

Customer:
