Customer Question

I just purchased a Lenovo X120e Think Pad. It is operating on Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit I believe.

I have a Linksys Cabel Modem BEFCMU10, and a wireless Broadband router, 2.4 GHz 802.11b NS C2760C7E7370, Both were purchased and registered in 2004.

My security is by using setting up a MAC client list, and I have properly entered the MAC address for the Lenovo.

I can not get on to my system, I get an error code 229378, encryption setting problem.

I can however, "poach" from my neighbor's unsecured modem/router, so I believe the Think Pad is OK (or so says Lenovo help desk)

Did you manually configure the MAC Address or did you use an automated tool.

Because the MAC address for your ethernet card and your wireless card are NOT the same. Each networking device will have its own mac address.

Do a quick comparison like this.

Go to start, in the searchbox type cmd and hit enter.

Type ipconfig /all

Check the mac address of both your ethernet adapter and Mac address adapter and confirm the correct one is input into the router. I'm assuming right now it has the ethernet one inserted, not the wireless.

When you do ipconfig (there's a space between ipconfig and all) the # XXXXX're looking for will be next to Physical Address

Note the picture below:

When you do the command, you'll have to scroll up to find the wireless adapter.

If you need additional assistance please REPLY and let me know. Thank you
