Simit :

Hello. Let me know when you are ready.

Customer:

I am ready

Simit :

Do you have this router with Charter cable?

Customer:

Yes

Simit :

Try this. Username: chtruser

Simit :

and password: charter

Simit :

Let me know if that doesn't work.

Customer:

Doesn't work

Simit :

If I answered your question, please don't forget to click the ACCEPT button. Any bonuses and feedback are greatly appreciated.

Simit :

Then try a blank username and password.

Customer:

I did and this popped up "please use a correct username and password

Simit :

And when you tried charter and chtruser, please make sure that you used all lower case, and confirm the spelling again.

Customer:

i did. I am on the cisco ip address 192.168.0.1. and a password XXXXX pops up every time i try to set up a new password

Simit :

And when you reset the modem, did you press the reboot switch on the back for 15 seconds?

Customer:

i think so. all the lights shut off then came back on at the same time and started blinking

Simit :

Well holding the button for just a couple of seconds will restart the router, which will cause the lights to start blinking, but the settings will still be there. In order to reset the settings to the factory defaults, you need to hold that switch for 15 seconds. Once you do that, it should reset the username and password XXXXX either blank, or to the chtruser/charter

Customer:

ok thankyou. i will try that and since you have been so patient with me i'll accept
