Attempting to set up Blu Ray player and need WPA Key Entry.

Customer Question

Attempting to set up Blu Ray player and need WPA Key Entry. I'm assuming this is some type of password. My neighbor set up the router (Wireless-G, Model WRT54GS2)for me initially and I have no idea what the password. Is there anyway of resetting it? As if you can't guess, I am not very computer literate. Didn't know what a router was until we moved here to Arizona.

Can you help me out?

Thanks,
Carole Zullo XXX@XXXXXX.XXX

Hello, please do this to get your current password XXXXX to reset it and make sure you are using a pc or laptop that is connected to the router using the Ethernet Cable for direct access.

1) Open Internet Explorer

2) Type 192.168.1.1 (in the address bar/url at the top) and press enter

Username: (LEAVE THIS BLANK)
Password: admin

3) Click Wireless

4) Click Wireless Security

The WPA Shared Key is your current password, you can leave it as is, or change it and then click save settings and close it out.

ONLY TO BE DONE AT LAST RESORT!

NOTE: You will need an ink pen to do this.

1) Press and Hold the RESET Button on the back of the router for 1 minute

2) UNplug the Power Cable from the back of the router for 1 minute

3) Plug the Router back up and let it power on

4) Test It

Let me know what happens, if any lights change, and if you can get the 192.168.1.1 to work for you.

It will not allow me to leave the Username blank.

Do I need to do the last resort steps?

Then use admin for both fields... If it comes up error 401 then someone changed it so yes you will need to RESET the router.
