We get very slow response to net searches, web email etc..

Resolved Question:

We get very slow response to net searches, web email etc.. It is improved with turning netgear off and on, but comes back within days. We have comcast coming into the house and run netgear off of their box. any ideas

Is anyone doing any download or streaming of music?

One thing to try would be to turn off one machine let the other run then turn off the other

The reason its fast when you restart the route is all connections are broken causing everything to refresh

which machines should we turn off - wireless router, computers, comcast box ??

It is actually slower when we go into certain areas for the first time - such as searching the web for information on hotels in an area (using safari as we have macs). For me it gets better over time - for my wife it is slower, but she is doing more searches and I am working in email and with documents.

yes - just that getting on web is painfully slow as mentioned. I have no problem when I get into my mail server at work. Both of us have slow response wen searching through safari. And it gets better - a bit - when we turn netgear on and off, but comes back soon.

Quick question Just to narrow down the issue to see if its actually a safari issue or not have you tried any other browser on your macs?

Firefox for example? I would try it for a day or so to see if you are experiencing similar issues with that browser as well then we can rule out the browser.

My wife uses only safari as do I most ofthe time. I do occasionally use firefox. I am travelling so I cannot test it with firefox but can tomorrow evening.
