Hello Sir/madam,Welcome to Just Answer.com. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X am a Microsoft- Certified Technician who will assist you today. I understand how important this is for you. I will put in my best effort to help you out. However, in case I am running out of ideas, I will transfer it to other experts.I need the following information.Which operating system do you have on this laptop?Tell me the make and model of the computer. Is it Dell, HP, Acer? Are you able to connect using a wired(modem to router and router to laptop) connection?
I made a mistake..it is not a wireless, it is a network from my computer to my wifes, that is what made me say WIRELESS...so the Wireless-G Broadband Router (Linksys) does not do the job is it supposed to be doing...no signal is getting to the remote at my wifes HP...the Remote has power...I have shut down the Router, and my putre and reset both the router and my Windstream Modem...which is a brand new Modem.
I understand that you have a desktop computer and your wife has laptop. Are you able to go online on the desktop. Have you connected a cable from the modem to linksys and linksys to desktop computer. Is this correct? Now, by using an extra ethernet cable, please connect a cable from the linksys router to laptop and tell me if you are able to go online on the laptop. After that I will give you steps to go wireless on the laptop. If you like the solution and get some help, please hit Accept as this is how I Earn my Living and get paid for my Time, work. Both my wife and I have desktops...but that does not matter
we have been useing Linksys for 4 years.....10 days ago the broadband modem got fried...Windstream replaced it with a new modem...since then my wifes HP has not been able to get a good signal with the Linksys remote. My Dell and the Router is on the second floor ...her HP and the remote is on the 1st floor ....100 feet away.
You told me that your dell computer and linksys is on the second floor. Is the windstream modem is also on the second floor? Now, her HP and the remote is on the 1st floor. What is remove here. Is there any cable goes from the 1st floor to 2nd floor connecting the devices or computers?
no

REMOTE = USB NETWORK ADAPTER (LINKSYS) on 1st floor with my wifes HP
dell, Linksys Router and modem...is on the 2nd floor
There are NO cables connecting the 2 puters
Please disconnect this linksys network adapter from your wife computer. Shut down and restart the computer. Now, connect this device and try to connect to internet.
