i HAVE PURCHASED AN HP MINI NETBOOK AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE ATT NETWORK VIA WIRELESS CONNECTION. i SPENT OVER 2 HRS ON THE PHONE WITH HP TECH SUPPORT WHO DID LOADS OF TRBOUBLESHOOTING. THE NETBOOK SHOWS A CONNECTION TO THE LINKSYS ROUTER BUT CANNOT ACQUIRE THE NETWORKING ADDRESS FOR ATT. I HAVE ATT DSL ON MY DESKTOP AND THE CONNECTION IS WORKING FINE. I WAS TOLD BY ATT THRID PARTY SUPPORT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 100.00 FOR THEM TO GIVE ME THE NETWORK IP ADDRESS THAT THE LINKSYS ROUTER NEEDS SO THE HP CAN ACTUALLY GET AN INTERNET CONNECTION. I HAVE SUSTAINED A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY POST 4 YRS AND ASKED THIS REP TO EXPLAIN WHAT AND WHY I NEEDED TO PAY THIS FEE FOR AND HE HUNG UP ON ME. CAN YOU HELP ME?

On your main computer, click on start then run,, type cmd and hit enter. Then type ipconfig. Tell me what the ip address of the main computer is. I know this sounds weird but it will tell us a key piece of info we need to move forward

Are there other addresses on that computer? Or is that the only one? Please give me all of the stuff that dumps out of ipconfig

Do you have to type in a password XXXXX the internet,, any page at all, will come up; or is it just on all of the time. Also who installed your router.
I HAVE TO TYPE IN A PASSWORD (HAVE A TEEN IN THE HOUSE) BEFORE I GO ONLINE. MY BROTHER'S FINACEES BROTHER WHO IS AN IT PERSON BY TRADE. I HAVE PRINTED OUT ALL THE WIRELESS LINKSYS CONFIG INFO IF THAT HELPS. I HAVE THE KEY PASSWORD XXXXX ON MY HP MINI NETBOOK AS WELL?
Here's what it sounds like. Your computer that is already in the house is set up to pass the your information to your isp instead of the router. In order to fix this you need to login to your router and store your dsl login information in the router itself. The only problem is you will not be able to limit your teenagers access unless you install a third party program.
I am not following you..when I sign into my router where do I go to put in this info?
