Hi, I can help you with this. Do you have any other computers currently connected to the wireless? The password XXXXX question here is the one you are asked for when trying to connect to wireless, correct?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
that is correct

Ok, please follow these steps, from any computer that IS currently connected to wireless, or via ethernet cable to the router:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Into the address field (where you usually type website addresses, such as www.msn.com) type 192.168.1.1 and hit Enter
  3. When prompted, leave username blank and enter "admin" for password (without quotation marks) and click Ok/Submit
  4. Once in, click on Wireless, then Wireless Security under it
  5. Now, below that you'll see your current security type selected (WPA, WEP, etc.)
  6. Below that, you will see the network key/passphrase (depending on type of security) that you need in order to connect to your wireless. Write it down.
  7. Use that information to connect your wife's Apple computer.

Relist: Inaccurate answer.
It demanded a "username" ... and would not connect with "admin" as the password (without the quotes)
Expert:  James replied 7 years ago.
Hi,

Please try user: admin and password: admin

If this doesn't work, let me know and we will reset the router to factory defaults.

Thanks,

James.

It didn't work, either.
Expert:  James replied 7 years ago.
Ok. You can reset the router to factory defaults. Hold the reset button on the back with a paperclip for 20 seconds. Then release, and let the router boot.
Then login to http://192.168.1.1 with empty user and password XXXXX or user and password XXXXX

Relist: Incomplete answer.
The box "accepted" the login and password XXXXX then disappeared. The screen now says 401 Authorization required. Browser not authentication-capable or authentication failed.
Expert:  James replied 7 years ago.
Close the browser, open it and try again please.

I have now found the Network Security Settings:

router username: admin

router password: cmbell

Network name (SSID): bells

network security type: Better compatibility with legacy devices (WEP-128)

network security key: F30C0E8BB293A521172A78C94A

Connection type: Keep Alive

I put in the password: "cmbell" in my wife's apple and had no positive results.

Expert:  James replied 7 years ago.
Hi, don't put in cmbell - put the following:

F30C0E8BB293A521172A78C94A

Thanks,

James.
