Customer Question

Okay, I have a netgear wireless router in my home and we use it for wi-fi access with our laptop. When I try to access the wi-fi service with my Droid phone or with a friend's laptop, we get a message that the wi-fi service is WPA/WPA2 PSK protected. When I get to the password XXXXX to allow access, I can't get in with the password XXXXX thought it was. How do I change the password XXXXX find out what the password XXXXX so that we can access with other computers/phones?
Thanks XXXXX

Hi, I can help you with this. Please try the following steps:

  1. On the laptop you currently have connected to wireless currently, open Internet Explorer and navigate to www.routerlogin.net (if that doesn't work, try www.routerlogin.com)
  2. When prompted, enter "admin" for username and "password" for password, then click OK/Submit
  3. Once in, click on Wireless Settings on the left
  4. On the right, in Security Options section, note the current security type selected (WEP, WPA, etc.). If you want optimal compatibility, select WPA-PSK (no WPA2)
  5. Below that, you'll see the passphrase field - verify that your passphrase that you have, matches one in that field. If you changed your security to WPA-PSK now, enter desired passphrase between 8 and 63 characters long.
  6. Click Apply if you made any changes, otherwise, if you only logged in to verify your passphrase, close the IE without saving
