i need to connect the arris tm602g modem to my linksys wrt54gx2
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows XPBrowser: IE Already Tried: i try to hook it to the modem jack (it didn't work), the only way I have got it to work is by connectiing it to the switch side wired but the wireless doesn't see the internet on my laptop

OK here is what I would like for you to do. You will need to print or save these directions as you will be disconnected from the Internet temporarily while you perform them. Please let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues!
At this point you should be able to connect your computers to your new wireless network using the password XXXXX created.
It didn't work, I had to plug the modem into a lan port and ipconfig / release then ipconfig /renew to get internet.

OK it may be that your Linksys needs to clone your computer's mac address to make this work:
