I have an iomega external hard drive that can't be accessed

I have an iomega external hard drive that can't be accessed and is asking me to reformat which would kill me. Model number is ***** - LDHD-UP2, serial numer WLA046E02.
JA: What kind of computer do you have?
Customer: Dell running Windows
JA: Have you installed any updates recently?
Customer: Logitech SetPoint but I believe the failure occurred just before

Hello and welcome.

Sometimes when externals start failing they show that message on some computers and not others. When they finally fail they will display it on all computers and then not even turn on.

Test the drive on other computers and see if you can get it to load the files then run a chkdsk /r on it to check for errors.

If you can access the files I would suggest copying them over to another hard drive just in case.
