Hey there, Im Tim, also a fellow gamer, and have a 970 in my back up gaming rig.

Expert:  Tim replied 1 month ago.

are you overclocking?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
it mainly appears to be happening in source engine games, when i'm playing Kf2 it seems to be mostly stable.

Have you tried a bench***** *****ke Heaven or 3dmark to see if it happens there?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
used heaven engine as a benchmark, got a pretty below average score for my card range using ultra quality, and extreme tessellation,i only got 1234 as my score, where as upon looking it up,others have gotten way higher using the same settings.
Expert:  Tim replied 1 month ago.

try default.....Never try ultra, you will always get poor results.

Expert:  Tim replied 1 month ago.

this is either a driver issue, a hardware problem with the card, or your Power supply is too low.....what is your PSU?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
my psu is a 750w rosewill photon.
