Hello, and Thank You for choosing JustAnswer.comMy name is ***** ***** I am reviewing your question now, please stand by for 1 or 2 minute for reply.
Okay, so the password ***** accessing the Administrator Dashborad......was it set by YOU, or the admin?
WHat i mean to say.....was the password ***** from its original DEFAULT password ***** all systems come with?
This being a securoty feature, and this MOST likely being based on linux, and the way linux works.....is fi you have access ot the physical machine....you OWN it.
There is nothign to keep you out.
HOwever, the data on the drive may have to be erased to restore access to Login.
IM looking for the technical documents now.
And there was never any record made of the passwords or Usernames?
Can you look at the image link, and confimr if what you see is what you have please.
i asked 2 questions there
is 'no' the answer to both?
Ahh, okay thank you.
Allow me a few minutes to locate the proper documents please.
Yeah, which makes the documents almost NON-existent.
im not knocking your purchase, but i loath cheap chinese made products.
Anyways, did you try the default password? 123456
username : admin
okay.....just a thought.....long shot....but worht a try.
Okay, so im not finding the Actual User manual for the D60 (Micro Center seems to have it, but cant find it) but I did find it for the D50, so being so close in model, the RESET process might be exactly the same.
Thast what ou are going to havce to do.......a FULL factory RESET.
The data on the drive might retain, but if it was encrypted, it would be no good, as the encryption is based on the password.
See how useless these insctructions are.
YOu have to login first....USELESS.
im still searching......but its not looking good.....and we may have to use the D50 manual to reset your D60
Do you still have the user manual?
See the image below
Hmmm, well.....that manual im not finding ANYWHERE online.
So.....i need just a bit of time for further investigation.
OKay, so can you try to login using the HIDDEN username called "default" , no password
Password: (leave blank)
wait, im confused......you cant delete the default user, its a hidden system user. But im looking at the D50 manual.....so the D60 might not have a hidden.
But the process is that you have to ERASE the admin username, and then type in default.
Leave password ***** and click login
OKay, so upon further review....this particular DVR does NOT have a Master reset without the Admin password.
But, I was told that you CAN call into WinBook Support, and you must have the serial number and the product receipt.
I know this poses a challenge on a 4 year old device......you probably dont have the receipt.
And no matter how honest you may seem, your story could be conjured up, and this unit is stolen.
Thats why this security measure exists......so that stolen units can NOT be used.
If you have the receipt......and the Serial number, then CALL winbook support, and explain your situation, they will help.
Otherwise.....unfortunately.....there is little that can be done......expect possibly CALL that former employee.....maybe i dont know.....pay for the password?
Or, you can SUE them......for the cost of the unit, as you will have to replace it without the admin password.
Oh, sorry heres the number
call support at this number 1(###) ###-####
Your story....while convincing (and im not assuming or implying ANYTHING) could easily fit that of a theif that has a stolen unit on hand.
My point is......cheap chinese products are almost NEVER very user friendly.
They offer little in the way of recovery.
WHY......well its honestly to force you to purchase another unit, all the while using theft deternet SECURITY as a the shroud to hide that fact.
So, you are stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Serial number and original purchase receipt, will get you back in to the unit. As that verifies you are the actual owner and the unit is NOT stolen.
Or.....if you dont have the necessary documents.....you will have to purchase a new unit.
Thank you China!
Please take a moment to rate my performance.
Now you know WHY i loath cheap chinese products........but you did get 4 years of service out of it......not bad.
Life cycle is only 3-5 years.
So.....you just about got what the WORLD considers......your moneys worth.
May i suggest a full rip and replace.
Sell the cams, and toss the unit.
Replace with something a bit more....domestic.
If cost is a concern........which it is for everyone......except casinos....they spare NO expense.
I would suggest working with a Product EXPERT.....somebody who knows all the products currently on the market, and can do a cost/feature comparison with you.
I dont do that.....that is above the scope of this question. But i can refer you to a great account executive in a WELL KNOWN IT reseller.
At least now you know......right......that has to be worth somethign.
