What is the brand and model of the external monitor?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Asking the same question as above. Last time I got busy and now I have some time to try again. This is an HP Envy23 All in one. Model no. 23-d027C
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 3 months ago.

okay,I was wondering what type/model monitor you have?

What type cable are you using to connect the monitor to your HP Envy?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I am on a different computer because the HP screen is black but when I turn it on in the dark the black sort of lights up. Model no. 23-d027C

okay, What type cable are you using to connect the monitor to your HP Envy?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
This is an all in one
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 3 months ago.

okay, do you already have an external monitor to connect to the HP?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I had already plugged the usb port to the external monitor
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
no signal
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 3 months ago.

okay, usually the usb monitor cable/adapter has to be installed.

Does the external monitor have an hdmi input or vga?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
vga
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
its a vga cable with an usb/vga adapter attached
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 3 months ago.

okay, the usb to vga adapter has drivers that have to be installed on the computer before it will work. Does any lights or sounds come from the computer when you power on?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
no beep at all, just hear the fan running
Customer: replied 3 months ago.
No other lights that I am aware of. I tried resetting like holding power button down for 2 min. and also pressing the f10 key upon start up, in fact I tried every f key because I've restarted dozens of times.

Would removing and then reinstalling the RAM help? I can change parts but need guidance as to what should I replace first.
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 3 months ago.

no, that will not help. You will need to test the display, the USB adapter is the only way to connect an external monitor on the HP Envy 23. There are no other monitor outputs.

I am searching to see if I can find a plug and play adapter that does not require drivers.

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Ok
Expert:  Randy Computer Tech replied 3 months ago.

unfortunately, there are not any adapters that you can use that does not require installation. The only option will be to get it checked at a local repair shop.

Ok thanks for all your help.
