Hi. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist. Check if the drive shows up in Disk Management.

Hold down the Windows logo key just to the left of the spacebar and press R. In the Run box type: diskmgmt.msc

and click OK. The Disk Management window will open. Do you see the drive listed there with an assigned

drive letter?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it's not there
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Not a good sign. Are you able to plug it in to another PC to check if it works?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No just my hp probook. The hard drive shows up in devices and printers. I did refresh the disk management and it looks like it showed up on disk 2 but not in the list above
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

In Disk Management, on the lower half of the screen where you see the other drives, does it have a drive letter assigned like the others?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no drive letter, just under disk 2. It say 931.19GB Healthy (primary partition)
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Thanks. To the right of the small box on the left side that says Disk 2, right click and when the menu open

select Change drive letters and paths

Click Change and use the drop-down arrow to select a drive letter. Use something like K or above and click OK

Once its changed check in Computer/My Computer/ This PC and see if it now shows up and is useable.

option is not available only convert to dynamic disk
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Is Disk 0 Basic or Dynamic?

Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

I think I know what's happening. In the area where it says Healthy, (Primary Partition)

Right-click in that space and change the drive letter.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
only selection is to delete volume
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

In the area where it says Healthy and the size, what is shown for file system?

If you look at your C drive you'll see NTFS

What does it show for Disk 2

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
disk 0 and 2 are both basic
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
nothing right after 931.19GB like the other disks
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Is there any data on that drive that you need?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not really. I am trying to free space up on my computer because it is maxed out
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Does GUID partition table (GPT) mean anything?
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

I understand but we need to get the drive to a condition where Windows can use it.

On the bottom half of the screen where Disk 2 is listed

what other information is there: (see attachment)

Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Can I connect to your computer and take a look at this?

Please click the link below. When the page opens click the green I Agree button and the connection download will begin. When the file has downloaded (Elsinore.ScreenConnect.Client) select Run or Open. If Windows asks, Allow changes to be made. When the file has loaded we should be connected.
