From question i could see that new monitor works well in laptop. So i believe there won't be any issue with monitor but Desktop itself is having trouble. Lets check from Desktop side, for that i need below queries to be answered.
1: Since monitor doesn't give any output, how you confirm that desktop is working properly?
(Are you able to ping or can use RDP from another computer)
2: Is old monitor still works, if so what's the response on Desktop using it ?
