Hello and welcome to Justanswer.com, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to assist you.
Unless you had that Maxtor connected to a mac at some time, it is compatible with your windows 10 computer.
The issue is, its just not being recognized by disk management, and it may need to be added using the disk part utility.. These are things that I can quickly, and safely do for you if we connect during a screen sharing session. Would you like me to send that offer to you and the connection steps so we can connect now, and I can get that drive working for you on windows 10?
Or would you prefer that I try to walk you through the process with written steps instead?
Thank you in advance for your response.

Ok.. First things first.
Connect the hard drive to your windows 10 computer. Then, do the following.
Please press the windows key on your keyboard , hold it down, and press R ( the windows key is located 2 keys to the left of the spacebar on your keyboard )Onscreen should be a box that says Open / Run . In that box type in,devmgmt.msc and then hit enter. Now, inside the device manager windows that shows up, were looking for any device that says unknown or unrecognized device, and it may have a yellow warning mark next to it. If you see any of those devices, let me know what they are labeled as and what category they fall under.
Now, if you hold down the windows key and press E
and then click this pc on the left.
What drives do you see listed here under devices and drives?
