Are you using an USB cable to connect the printer with the PC ?
Is it a new printer ?
Did you try to change the USB cable of the printer , because only a defective USB cable can cause this problem.

Just connecting the cable will not help, you have to reinstall the driver from the begining and this time do not connect the printer at first, start the installation and when it ask you to connect the printer then, connect the printer with the PC. Please disconnect the printer from the PC and then start the reinstallation.
