My DVD drive on Gateway Desktop will not read or write. It is recognized in the device manager.
Optional Information: Computer OS: Windows 7 Browser: IE Already Tried: Blowing out any dust with compressed air. Cleaning up files and registry with cccleaner. disabled in device manager and enabled. Saw post from someone with same problem who said to delete a file under "upper limits" in the registry, disable the drive in device manager then restart. Also tried Microsoft's Fix-it. It works and works and tells me to put in a disk. I've tried program disks, data disks and audio disks.

sorry - there was 1 slight difference. The correct one is the one I referred to in my original question - that I had deleted the "upper filters". There is no "lower filters" shown.
