1973 Volvo 144 wiper linkage --the plastic pivot

Customer Question

1973 Volvo 144 wiper linkage --the plastic pivot gear/spindle between left and right sides--is broken. I can't find the part. Is there another car's wiper system I could try? Did Volvo make the part, or buy it from bosch or another supplier?
JA: Have you checked the fuses? Do you know if there is power to the wiper motor?
Customer: motor is fine. replaced all the fuses. We're way past that!
JA: What is the model of your '73 Volvo?
Customer: 144 basic (not S)
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Tried ourselves, then enlisted a mechanic. tried to glue the gear back together where it broke, but it wouldn't hold.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Bought a 1973 Volvo 164 linkage hoping it would work, but it's quite different. tried a 1972 144 part but it was different also.
