Customer Question

I recently purchased a*****Runner with a four on the floor.(Hurst shifter)
It is very difficult to get the transmission into reverse gear.
It has been suggested that the linkage has to wear-in.
Does this sound feasible or is there a mechanical problem?

Is it hard to engage reverse only with the engine running, or does it occur with engine off as well?

It occurs with engine running or turned off.

Sounds like the shift linkage is not properly adjusted. This is not something that will wear-in. The linkage will need to be adjusted to make the transmission properly engage reverse.
