Howdy Matt, This is Ed again .. Not sure if you remember.. I have the 62 vert with the new 2110cc etc.. Ok well I have solved the over heating and now.. Sheesh cant get a break with this Build.. I have had a new Rancho Trans freeway flyer installed and now it wants to thro second gear .. I can hold it in and its fine not a whole lot of pressure trying to push it out of gear .. 1st 3rd and 4th are fine .. Is it a bad trans Syncro or is it Linkage ..? I have checked what I know ..

HelloWhen it jumps out gear its likely to be a transmission selector hub with a damaged detent spring, or the detent ball bearings are sticking in the hub and not locking the selector ring in place or the other less gloomy possibility is the linkage is poorly adjusted there is some adjustment on the base of the gear lever so try putting it into 2nd and then loosen the bolts off at the lever base and see if you can move it any further into gearif you go too far you then have issues with it jumping out of 1st so you need a sweet spot between the 2 positionsalso lift up the back seat cushion and remove the little access plate on the tunnel this should reveal a two part linkage for the gear lever rod there rubber bushes on these can wear badly and make the change very sloppy so check they're all in in good condition

Base plate...? Are you refrencing the Shifter...? If not I am not familiar .. I may want to have it looked at by my mechanic.. It is just getting to expensive at this point ..I am trying to save money and try to figure out some of these bugs myslef..
Oh the trans is brand new.. So I am expecting it to be a simple adjustment.. The trans is warranted but the removal and install wont be .. Ack.. Labor these days are expensive..
Hello yes the base is at the bottom of the shiftersee here for a good how tohttp://www.huelsmann.us/bugman/ShifterTech.html
