The first thing you have to do is to diagnose any problems, then search for the parts you need to repair the issues. One big barrier is the fact that many parts needed for repairs haven't been available from Pontiac for over 3 decades. Some parts can be easily found, others are virtually unobtainable. For these virtually impossible to find parts you will need to do some searching and possibly place some want adds. Places like an auto salvage called Franks Pontiac Parts, will often be able to help. There is a publication called Hemmings Motor News, and it is used globally to buy and sell hard to find classic car parts. I have frequently placed want adds in Hemmings and found tough to locate classic car parts. Ebay is also a good place to find classic car parts. You have to check back frequently to find hard to find pieces. Sometime it takes months to find rare parts. You can get an original Pontiac parts manual, and look up the part number of the parts you need, and search the internet for the part by the part numbers. When car manufacturers discontinue parts, they are sold to private individuals. These parts are known as NOS (new old stock) and are frequently listed by part number on the internet. When I am looking for an nos part I normally type in NOS, and the part number in the search on the net.
So where to start......check it all out, and determine what parts are needed to repair the climate control system. Get the part numbers and search, or try Pontiac auto salvages that specialize in classic Pontiac parts. Once you find the parts reassemble it and you will be ready to go.
