My car a Chrysler Sebring started I put in reverse and tried to apply brakes and put in Drive and it went dead and will not start. The brakes do not work. The horn,lights and door locks work. Any explanation thanks

There are quite a few things that can cause the engine to die and not restart. If it died and now will not crank then there is a good chance the powertrain control module isn't awake, either due to internal failure or a loss of power or ground.

Does the starter not engage?

Does the fuel pump run when the key is turned on?
