I am trying to determine if I have an O2 problem or a catalyc Converter problem on my 05 with 158000 miles. The readout says the problem is in the converter area but does not specify what. Is there a way to tell without replacing all of them?
JA: What is the make/model of your car?
Customer: It is a Chrysler Pacifica allwheel drive.
JA: Besides this, what condition is the car in?
Customer: Very good condition,drives and handles well, good tires and brakes Good body and excellent interior.
JA: What year is your '05 Pacifica?
Customer: 2006 model year
JA: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Fixing myself and I have not committed to anything yet as the car is runnig well but the mileage has dropped off from 28 to less than 18.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Would like to know how specifically identify the problem?

The ONLY way to test an O2 sensor is with a scope.

The ONLY way to test a CAT is with a 5 gas analyzer.

There are many odd ways to test these that only give false data.
