Malfunction light indicator just came on in my Chrysler 300S

Customer Question

malfunction light indicator just came on in my Chrysler 300S 2012
JA: Do you have the trouble code? Do you have a code reader or scan tool?
Customer: i dont believe so or i dont know what that is
JA: Not a problem. You can work with the Chrysler Mechanic to figure that out. Are you fixing your 300C yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: just happened and its a 300S if that matters
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: i dont think so

Hi, are you still looking for help with this problem?

Expert:  Joshua Haynes replied 4 months ago.

These vehicles have a very neat feature that will allow you to retrieve the codes without the use of a scan tool...if you insert the key into the ignition and turn it on and then off and back on three consecutive times within five seconds, the information center will list the codes for you. If you do this and then record the codes that come up, I will be happy to expound on them for you and try to help you through the diagnostic process.

Good afternoon and welcome to JustAnswer!!

My name is ***** ***** I have worked for a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealership for 19 years and I will do my best to help.

There is no way for you to get the codes so disregard that. If your check engine light is on you will need a scantool or code reader to see what codes it has in order to know how to repair it. Your local parts stores will usually scan it free of charge for you, so once you get a chance to run by just post the P codes here and I will be glad to explain what they mean and how to repair it..

Talk soon,
