My 2012 Town and Country van has an issue. It will try to start when you turn the key and it cranks and cranks, but will not fire to start. If you left the key where it is, it would crank until the battery would die. It has also started but acts like it has no gas and will die within two seconds of starting.
It van is garage kept and this has happened on warm dry days when it is both in the garage and outside. While its trying to start, the red lightning bolt appears

You could have quite a few things going on and it's going to take some testing to determine what is causing the no start condition. You may be losing spark or fuel. It's not likely that the fuel pump would be causing an intermittent problem but the may be losing power or ground. You could be losing crank sensor signal, the problem could be in the TIPM or powertrain control module.

Have you checked for fault codes?

Doesn't the starter crank?

it cranks but won't turn over. Then when it does it runs for 1-2 seconds and dies. Like it's low on fuel

Crank and turn over are synonymous, the starter engages and turns the engine. If the engine cranks then you don't have a key related problem. If the key was bad then you'd get a bad key message on the instrument cluster and nothing else would happen when you turned it to the run position.

What you're describing is a fuel related issue, especially if there are no fault codes setting. If this isn't something you're wanting to diagnose and repair yourself it would be best to see a dealer as the shop you took it to isn't familiar with the vehicle.
