What is the engine vacuum at when the engine is at idle?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
i don't know and the vehicle is no here now. Where is the best point to check vacuum?
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

Any vacuum hose or line coming from the intake manifold will work. Would you be willing to speak on the phone?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
vehicle will not be back till tonight . will be working on it tomorrow

OK

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
did it work
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.
that did the trick! Vacuum looks good! This is a good thing because this misfire condition should not be related to a base engine mechanical problem.
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Ok so what do we check next
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
ok so what do i check next. I only have the car today
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

It sounded like the engine was running pretty good in the video.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No it still idles rough with a vibration you can feel through the whole car. When it starts cold it runs smooth with good idle . once it reaches running temp it has a vibration and a rough idle . As it goes from cold to running temp this vibration and rough idle comes and goes, but is constant once it reaches running temp
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

Is there anyway you could send me a video of this rough idle?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
it is not like a misfire where the engine shakes but a constant frequency vibration you can feel. but it wont run smooth again till its cold
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
i don't know if it will capture on video but we can try after lunch maybe it will be cold enough that you can see the difference
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
i also have a scan tool if you need any live data
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

We can sure try!

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
ok we will let it cool down . let me now what live data you need and we will try after lunch
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

I dont need any live data. I dont think this is a engine performance problem.

Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

Unless the PCM needs to be updated or flashed.. which could be the case.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
ok i cant get any video to show the vibration . started cold and smooth took it fo a test drive and as soon as it got up to temp it started low level vibration . you can feel it most when parked but its there when driving as well
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

OK well the engine is not misfiring because it would flag a misfire code. So it would be related to the throttle body or possibly the computer programming if it is related to engine performance. Another possible cause would be worn motor mounts and or the harmonic balancer.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
If it was the Harmonic balancer it would also happen when engine cold
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

I agree.. but it may only be noticable at lower engine rpm depending on how it's going bad..

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
When the high cooling fan or if you turn the headlights on it also alters the vibration some what
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
The vibration is afects by the increase and decrease of engine rpm buy it dose not seam proportional to it
Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

Without looking at the vehicle myself and the lack of evidence we have, there is nothing else I can offer other than the information I already have. I am going to leave this open for other experts. Good luck!

Expert:  Amedee replied 2 months ago.

Someone should be with you shortly

Hi,
I read the technnical bullettin that you have send to me and it doesn't apply.
(Posted in behalf of the customer)
Expert:  Brad replied 2 months ago.

Why do you say it doesn't apply? What is the VIN?

Expert:  Brad replied 2 months ago.

It's a 2003 LH with a 3.5 and it has idle issues, it most certainly does apply. Once you have it updated it will take care of your issues.]

I've read the service bulletin you sent for the conditions of rough idle cold star, no rough idle at running temp. We have the reverse - no rough idle on cold start. then intermitten rough until running temp is reached, then continuous rough idle.
Due to a technical issue with your site, we've had no response box to respond to your questions
Expert:  Brad replied 2 months ago.

What is the VIN number?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
i dont have the vehicle or the VIN here with me
Expert:  Brad replied 2 months ago.

Reply back tomorrow with the VIN.. Thanks

Customer: replied 2 months ago.

Did you ever update the PCM?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
no
I've read the service bulletin you sent for the conditions of rough idle cold star, no rough idle at running temp. We have the reverse - no rough idle on cold start. then intermittent rough idle until running temp is reached, then continuous rough idle. And if this is your recommendation even though the TSB is contradictory to our specific conditions, i will take the vehicle to Chrysler and have them diagnose the problem
Expert:  Brad replied 2 months ago.

Since you don't have a check engine light on then I would update the PCM and then run a combustion chamber cleaner thru it.. This should take care of your idle issues..
