I have a 2010 PT Cruiser My rear hatch loch latch will not

Customer Question

I have a 2010 PT Cruiser
My rear hatch loch latch will not release to open
I have gone into area via the drop down back seat and cannot see anything blocking the latch
Is there a way to open from the inside? Could it be a fuse since all on the door locks work?

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the latch will not release then odds are it has failed and will need to be replaced. Something foreign being closed in the liftgate or an adjustment issue are also possibilities but these things should have been apparent before it wouldn't open.

Is this a convertible or hard top?
Do you have a lock cylinder on the liftgate?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
My vehicle is a hard top there is no key opening just the pad that is under the rear emblem. I worked fine the day before.
After clearing out the rear compartment I can see a small button that looks like it has a pop off cover in the trim panel directly behind the emblem that hold the key pad. I 'm guessing that this is how the part is replaced.

Do you hear any noise from the liftgate when attempting to release it?

Do you have a test light?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
What is that? No
Expert:  sprinkles08 replied 10 months ago.

A test light is a piece of electrical test equipment.

Is it not something you're wanting to or able to diagnose yourself and you were just looking to know possible causes?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It appears that I will have to go to dealer who has the test equipment

It's going to take some testing to determine what is wrong. If you're unable to do so yourself then a shop or dealer would most likely charge .5 to 1 hour of labor to do so.
