Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the key won't come out after doing some sort of repair involving the shifter then you most likely have an ignition interlock isue and the key isn't turning to the lock position. It may be an issue in the shifter or it could be a simple cable adjustment issue.

What year and model is the vehicle?

What exact part was replaced?
