Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! It sounds like you have an automatic temperature control system with a blower motor power module rather than a manual system which uses a resistor. When a power module fails then it will cause the motor to run at full speed on it's own.I expect what you're experiencing now is the blower motor is running slowly due to it's own failure. If you're able to control speed but the motor just doesn't run as fast as it should you can load test it's power and ground with a light bulb to make sure it lights as brightly as if connected directly to the battery, if ok then the blower motor should be replaced.
