2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible... was idling kind of, but

Customer Question

2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible... was idling kind of crappy, but drove and accelerated fine...bought a full tank of gas and started having problems a few days ago..changed filter and a little better, but same issue... .idles fine now, very hesitant when pushing the accelerator, makes a "dull pop" sometimes like it's a fuel issue...getting a message on dash "deck" now...runs better with the intake off, but still lagging on acceleration til it gets going (feathering throttle body) it's given me this message before and cleared up.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
There are quite a few thing that could be going on. It looks as if the problem had started and then you filled the fuel tank, but if it actually started running this way after filling up then fuel quality is very suspect. A sample can be taken to check for contaminants.
Other common causes of a poor idle would be ignition components, cylinder sealing issues, possibly a bad MAP or upstream oxygen sensor.
The first thing that should be done is check for fault codes. Do you know if any codes are setting?

no codes came up on uncles code scanner, a "service engine soon" light did come on, threw no codes... have put seafoam and "heet" in tank and been running in low gear at 3K rpm around the hood and it is getting better...took air filter out (is clean) and seems to get up rpm's easier. It idles very clean. It's not a cylinder issue. I will write back again tomorrow with status.

also cluster message of "deck" has gone away.

If the engine light was on it was because fault codes were set.
Have you tried the key cycle method or do you have a second code reader or scan tool?
