Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
The problem could be mechanical or electrical. There could be an issue with a cable, top component, or the pump motor itself that has prevented proper movement and the power top control module suspended operation. There are a series of microswitches that monitor the position of all components during operation and if something wasn't in the correct state due to a mechanical issue then it will stop operation. If a switch has failed it will also cause what you're having.
A scan tool is most likely going to be necessary to diagnose the problem. Start with a visual inspection of components, if you don't see any issues you can try a battery disconnect. If that doesn't work then a scan tool will need to be used to see what fault codes are setting and possibly look at data to see why operation is being inhibited.
