Chrysler Town & Country Touring: 2010 T&C When the battery

Customer Question

2010 T&C When the battery light comes on, the temp gauge shuts down, then the battery light goes off and the gauge works again. Also when the gauge is working it never goes to center like it used to.

Hello from what you have described sounds like one of 2 things is happening. either the alternator is going out or the instrument cluster is failing. i have a feeling the alternator is going out. you can have it tested and it will probably test good. i have a feeling that once it gets warm and under a load a diode is starting to fail. while the light is on if you have a volt meter you can test the dc voltage and ac voltage (in milivolts). your going to have dc voltage that will be the normal 14ish volts but your ac volts will be above 125 milivolts. if your ac voltage is above the around or above 125 milivolts you have a bad alternator. you can test at your battery or at the back of the alternator itself.ThanksIf you have anymore questions please just ask. Please don't forget to leave feed back. (Thats how I get paid.)
