Chrysler Concord: I have a 2002 Chrysler Concord LXI with Air

Customer Question

I have a 2002 Chrysler Concord LXI with Air conditioner problems.
I refilled the system according to direction.
The compressor will engage (click in) for 1 second then disengage.
The compressor will remain disengage for about 3-5 seconds then try again to re-engage.
Very infrequently the compressor will remain engaged for 10-20 seconds.
I’m getting some cooling coming out the vent but nowhere near the cool it had before.
What should I do?

I really need to know what the pressure is on the high side to properly diagnose the problem.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK sorry I do not have gauges to do that.
I'm only a shade tree mechanic.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
If the system is physically ok then your charge appears to be close. If there is a restriction in the system though and you charged it with a gauge and by pressure then it may be undercharged.
Being able to monitor high side pressure and the a/c pressure transducer with a scan tool is going to be necessary. The compressor may be turning off due to an incorrect evaporator temperature reading, an incorrect transducer reading, or the pressure on the high side may be abnormally low or high due to a charge issue, compressor issue, or a restriction in the system.
