Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!
If the shifter feels normal but it doesn't show that it's not in park then you could have a bad range sensor, a sensor wiring issue, or the shift cable may be misadjusted. If the cable isn't adjusted correctly it may not be fully going into park although it feels like it is.
The first thing that should be done is check the cable adjustment. If ok and the range sensor wiring is visibly ok then electrical testing will need to be done at the time it's acting up, the most likely cause would be the senor itself.
