Customer Question

I need to replace the engine in a 2004 crossfire. Will a later model engine work? It seems there is a difference in the mfg. dates but I can't find exactly what the difference is. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to just answer. Would you please send me the VIN # XXXXX current mileage of your Crossfire? I want to see which engine sales code you have.

Ok, thanks, XXXXX XXXXX your vehicle and see that it is the 3.2L V6 (sales code EGX). You can use the engine from a 2004 up to 2006 Crossfire as long as the engine is not the supercharged version. Look for an "L" in the 8th position of the VIN # XXXXX the vehicle you are getting the donor engine from.

I hope this information helps, and let me know if you need further assistance with this.

Most sites reference the engines as either being thru 2/04 or after 2/04. Can you tell me what the difference is.

Hmmm, let me see what I can find out regarding that.

Ok i checked with my parts department, and the engine part number for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 Crossfires are the same so as long as you stick with those years and get an engine that is not supercharged, then you should be ok. The manufacture date should not matter.
