I have a 2012 Town and Country Limited and we used to be able to start the van with the key virtually anywhere, inside a pocket, front seat, even back seat, wherever. But all of a sudden the van won't recognize the key unless it's within inches of the ignition button. I have 3 keys, and tried them all seperately (with the others far away in the house, so they couldn't affect anything) results were all the same. Door opening also triggers an error mssg. What could be wrong?

Hi Welcome to Just Answer!
Based on your description you have an issue with the rf hub which is the reciever for the keys. How many miles do you have on the van?
under 1k
ok take it back to the dealer it is still under warranty
I actually did take it into the dealer, and the tech said that the receiver was getting interference from my Kenwood DNX6990HD (GPS/DVD/CD), so I called the place that installed the stereo and they said that was total nonsense, the Kenwood doesn't broadcast any signal. What should I tell the service manager when I take it back?
tell him there is no way that is interfearing with it that radio does the same thing the factory radio does
That's what I did while it was still there. Do I tell them to just replace the "RF hub?" Approx (just ballpark) how much is that part, if it turns out it isn't the problem?
they won't just replace it but something is deffinately going on the only thing you could do to prove it to them is reinstall the factory radio
Right, that's why I was wondering about how much the part would be, if I told them I'd just pay for the part myself.
the only way the radio could affect it is if was hooked up wrong and was taking down the interior comunication network
let me see if i can find you a price on the part
great
the module is around $180
Thanks. If they don't get it done, what phone number can I call Chrysler to get their help?
the phone number is XX your owners manual i don't have it
Ok, thanks for your help.
