Chrysler Group LLC Version 1

Case Number: S1108000127

Release Date: 8/16/2011

Symptom/Vehicle Issue:

No Start/No Crank. PCM has code 2071-08 present.

Discussion:

Vehicle may not crank or may only crank for a few seconds and not start. Code 2071 description

reads Start Enable Message from the SKREEM module not received by PCM. Check communication

status of SKREEM. If no response from SKREEM, check power and ground circuits to SKREEM

module. Load testing is preferred. If ok, check status of CAN bus. If other modules are

communicating, replace the SKREEM module.

NOTE: Replace the SKREEM only. It is NOT necessary to replace the PCM or

key when installing a new SKREEM.

There is a code what gives something with the skreem module, the skreem box is behind your instrument paneel, can you replace the skreem module with one of a other car, or must it be programd.
Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.
No, you must purchase a new Skreem Module.. And I think it is a dealer item only.. And yes, It will need to be programmed....
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
oke, i have one with key from a car that is crashed, becouse i had order it by a dealer but it is standing in backorder now for three weeks. Is the skreem module to reprogrammed.
Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.
You wont be able to use that used SKREEM.. It has been programmed to another VIN and PCM..... You will need to get a new one from Chrysler... Im sorry its on backorder, I guess alot of them are failing....
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
The PCM is that the engine computer, and if i chance that one also from the crashed car it may be working or i am thinking to easely
Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.
If yu want to try using the PCM and SKREEM off donor car, its worth a shot.... If it works, you wont need to program anything except, Remotes
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I have chanced PCM and skreem from donorcar and he wil start now, Yes. But now the remotes doesn't work, you have tel me that. Doe you now how i can program them, so that the remotes wil work.
Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.

Im glad you got it running with the used parts... And the Remote will need to be programmed with a scantool....

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Brad car drive's wel now, but i have been to the chrysler dealer for programming the remote but the cann't program it the say's cost me € 100,- and the doesn't work now. Do you now how themust be programmed so i can tell them. Thanks
Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.

Ok, Good news is I found a way you can program it yourself..... Follow these directions and see if it works...

STANDARD PROCEDURE - TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING

The Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter(s) can be programmed by the customer without special tools.

PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE

Transmitter programming by the customer is done by performing the following steps:

  1. Insert the key into the ignition switch.
  2. Press either the lock or unlock button momentarily twice.
  3. Turn the key in the ignition switch to the ON/RUN position within 30 seconds.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Brad this doesn't work i have tried it serveral times but no results
Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.
Insert key into ignition, do not turn on... Then press "Lock" or "Unlock" twice...Then turn key on within 30 sec... If this doesnt work,...Your remote may be faulty..
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

The remote with i tried to program are used in this car with the defect immobiliser could that be the problem

Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.
Yes, I suggest getting a new one.....
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Oke, can i program these used remote's by an other way.

New remote when i wil order them i must have document from the car but the immobiliser is from a donor car there are no prapers left from this car.

Doy you have any suggestions.

Expert:  Brad replied 2 years ago.
No other way, if dealership won't do it.... You have a key that is from your ignition but is programmed for another car because you switched the Skreem and PCM... When the dealership orders the key they will news your VIN off your car because the key cylinder is the same in your car.... Then you can program it.... You don't need any info from other car..
